This very finely hand woven and hand embroidered Tribal Nomadic Cicim/Jijim Kilim was made for dowry by Nomadic People to use as an eating blanket which is called ''SOFRA''or''SOFRAEH'' in South Anatolia in the region of Adana,Çukurova.It was woven in two panels/pieces and than stitched together in the middle.It was woven on white organic cotton kilim and than hand embroidered with wool over the white cotton kilim.The reason why it was woven in two panels was these Nomadic people do not have large/wide handmade wooden looms,because they are very heavy to carry on their travels/trips to Taurous Mountains.That's why they have smaller/narrower handmade wooden looms and they make one piece in winter and the other piece in summer and than they stitch them together in the middle. And another reason for making such Dowry pieces in two panels/pieces is that;one panel is symbol of the weaver girl and the other panel is the symbol of her future husband and when she gets married than just after engagemnt she stitches the two panels together in the middle which means she is engaged and connected to her other half and she presents this Dowry piece to her husband at her wedding day as a part of her dowry presents to her husnband.All our Carpets and Kilims are ''One of a Kind''.It is a piece of an ''Art of Weaving''. It is strong enough to be used on a high-traffic area.
This beautiful Cicim Kilim has just been professionally cleaned in Türkiye and For future cleaning, this Cicim Kilim can be washed in the bathtub or on the floor with cold water and natural soap or dry clean.It is ready to be used!
