This Turkish Tribal Kilim saddlebag was made for dowry by Yörük (Nomadic People) in the region of Eastern Anatolia. She added some extra tasseles for wishes. Saddlebags were used for practical reasons. Saddlebags were mainly used for transportaion on the shoulders of Nomads or over their donkeys, horses or camels. Today they are used for many purposes such as wall hanging, putting over a table and filling inside with magazines, newspapers, etc or as a floor rug (next to bed or sofa or as doormat, bath mat, etc), over the table, over a chair as a chair cover, or over the back of a horse or back wheel of a bicycle or motorcycle and many other purposes for decoration at home, office or garden. Nowadays it is very hard to find them and saddlebags are highly valued by collectors, designers and rug lovers.
